The Pheidole sinica, often called the Imperial Chinese Big Headed Ant, is the “heavyweight champion” of the Pheidole genus. While most Pheidole species are tiny, P. sinica is famous for its massive size among the largest in the world for this genus. They are a prestigious species for keepers who want the dramatic soldier/worker contrast on a much grander scale. They are high speed, highly aggressive, and possess a “predator prey” response that rivals much larger species like Carebara.
