The Leptothorax acervorum is often called the “Slender Ant,” and it’s one of the coolest little secrets in the ant keeping world. These ants are tiny, peaceful, and incredibly hardy, they even live in some of the coldest parts of the world, like the high mountains and the far north. They aren’t the type of ants to storm across a massive setup. Instead, they live in very small colonies, often inside a single hollow twig or a piece of bark. This makes them perfect for keepers who don’t have a lot of space but want a beautiful, low-maintenance colony to watch up close.
